Newly crowned WBA Super World super featherweight champion Jezreel “El Invisible” Corrales (20-1, 8 KOs), the 24-year-old southpaw from San Miguelito, Panama, shocked the world when he KO’d long reigning Takashi Uchiyama last week in Tokyo.

After receiving a hero’s welcome upon his return to Panama, the new champion met a select group of Panamanian journalists, among them Héctor Villarreal, to discuss his future.

“El Invisible” was accompanied by his manager Lesbia de Moss and his promoter Rogelio Espiño.

Mrs. Moss said there have been several informal offers from a handful of promoters for Corrales’ first defense.

“We trust Corrales enough to go anywhere and face any challenger,” she said. “As a champion he has to be ready to a accept challenges from the best of the best.”

Espiño pointed out that Corrales, because of an option clause in the contract of his fight with Uchiyama, is still tied to Japanese promoters.

“We still have some compromises with the Japanese,” said the promoter, “but it doesn’t mean that I won’t manage to get the best opportunities for Jezreel.”

When Corrales was asked if he preferred a rematch with Uchiyama or a mandatory fight with WBA World super featherweight champion Javier Fortuna, the hard-hitting southpaw from La Romana, Dominican Republic, “El Invisible” said, “I proved that I can beat Uchiyama so I prefer to demonstrate my quality against Fortuna.”
