On Saturday, February 20, at Koenig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, reigning and defending WBA World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs), from Serpukhov, Russia, fights former WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (39-5-3, 18 KOs), from Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, a second time in defense of his title.

Thirty-six-year-old Sturm is a 14-year ring vet who won the WBA World middleweight title by beating Maselino Masoe via unanimous decision in 2006. He became WBA Super World middleweight champ by beating Giovanni Lorenzo in 2010.

Twenty-eight-year-old Chudinov is an undefeated six-year pro. He won the WBA World super middleweight title via 12-round split decision over Sturm last May, and most recently fought in September, successfully defending the crown against Frank Buglioni.

For Saturday’s rematch, the judges will be Ignacio Robles (Panama), Jean Louis Legland (France), and Giuseppe Quartarone (Italy). Luis Pabon will be the third man in the ring. The WBA supervisor overseeing the bout is Julio Thyme.

Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, president of the WBA, will also be ringside for the fight.

“After completing a successful tour in China,”said Mendoza, “we decided to come to Germany to watch Fedor Chudinov and Felix Sturm in action. I never pass up an opportunity to watch great fighters get it on. But this is also an occasion to meet with local promoters and to continue to develop closer ties with our WBA family in Europe.”
