The World Boxing Association wishes a speedy recovery to former WBA World super featherweight and current WBC World lightweight champion Jorge Linares, who is having surgery today to repair a boxing-related injury.

Thirty-year-old “El Niño de Oro” (40-3, 27 KOs) started fighting in the flagship WBA KO to Drugs initiative. Born in Barinas, Venezuela, but fighting out of Tokyo, Japan, Linares is a warrior’s warrior. He is also a credit to the sport.

“We wish Jorge a speedy recovery,” said Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, “and look forward to his returning to the ring as soon as possible.”
