WBA World bantamweight champ Jamie McDonnell defends his title against Tomoki Kameda over a scheduled 12 rounds at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, Sunday, September 6.

A Yorkshireman, 29-year-old McDonnell is a 10-year pro (26-2-1, 12 KOs) who won the vacant title by stopping Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat via 10th-round TKO in May 2014. He’s twice successfully defended his crown, most recently this May when he scored a close and controversial unanimous decision against previously unbeaten Kameda, who put him down in the third. Never stopped, McDonnell was decisioned by Chris Edwards in December 2007 and outpointed by Lee Haskins in March 2008. He drew against Dai Davies in June 2006.

Born in Osaka, “El Mexicanito” fights out of Tokyo. A seven-year ring vet (31-1, 19 KOs), 24-year-old Kameda won the WBO World bantamweight title by decisioning Paulus Ambunda in August 2013. He’s successfully defended that title three times, most recently in November 2014, decisioning Alejandro Hernandez. The Japanese is fourth-ranked by the WBA.

The PBC card will air live on CBS at 4 p.m. ET.
