Earlier today in Tokyo saw the medical examinations for the fighters taking part on the Tokyo December 31st show, “The Best of Best”.

Among those to have under-taken their medicals were the men competing in the WBA Super Flyweight world title bout. That was champion Kohei Kono, looking to make his first defence, and Dominican fighter Norberto Jimenez.

At the physical it was confirmed that Jimenez was the taller and rangier man. What seemed interesting however was that his advantages were less than everyone had expected, in fact Jimenez is less than 1″ taller and has just over 1″ reach advantage, both of which are negligible.

Although technically the “smaller” man Kono is the much more experienced fighter, in terms of fights, rounds and world title fights with this being his 6th world title bout.
