The Panamanian Hilario Zapata was the sensation during the opening day of the Hall of Fame Induction weekend.  The champion, who is the World Boxing Association special guest to promote his induction in 2013.

The purpose of the WBA is to promote the Panamanian, remember his achievements in boxing, to ge him nominated for next year induction. To bring Zapata’s achievements, the WBA designed postcards with his bio and his record to be given away during this weekend.

This afternoon the Panamanian was present at the inauguration ceremony and since he arrived till he left, he signed autographs and gave away shirts and y postcards to all the fan. Security had to intervene in some opportunity to escort him.

The renowned presenter of Combate Space, Juan Larena took the opportunity to talk with the Panamanian at the Hall of Fame Museum. Zapata explained his attendance and thank the recognition and affection from the fan. “I am very happy I never imagine it would be like this.  Here are the true boxing fans, they wand autograph, pictures with me and want me to give them the shirt I am wearing, I wish I could please them all, but they are too many¬” he said.

In the opening ceremony of the Hall of Fame, Hilario Zapata was introduced and when invited to the podium said. “My name is Hilario Zapata. I am from Panama, I am very happy to be here today so you get to know me because it would be a great honor for me come back next year as a member of the Hall of Fame” said the three-time-world champion through his translator Joe Cortez.

Zapata is present in every activity of the second day of the Hall of Fame Induction weekend.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Presentan a Hilario Zapata en fin de semana del Salón de la Fama

El panameño Hilario Zapata causó sensación durante la jornada inicial del fin de semana de inducción al Salón de la Fama del Boxeo. El excampeón, quien es invitado por la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo para promover su inducción en el 2013, compartió con todos los presentes.

El propósito de la AMB es mErcadear al panameño, presentarlo, recordar a todos sus logros como boxeador para que a final de año, en el momento de las votaciones, todos recuerden quién es Hilario Zapata y así pueda ser inducido en el 2013 al Salón de la Fama. Para lograr esto la AMB invitó a Zapata a Canastota NY, diseñó postales con foto y biografía, diseñó camisetas con motivos del boxeador y lo agregó dentro de las actividades que se realizan durante esta semana.

Esta tarde el panameño estuvo presente en la ceremonia de inauguración y desde que llegó, hasta que se retiró, firmó autógrafos y obsequió fotografías a los fanáticos. La seguridad tuvo que internevir en varias ocasiones para poder escoltar a Zapata a un lugar más privado.

El reconocido presentador de televisión Juan Larena, de Combate Space, aprovechó la oportunidad para conversar con el panameño en una entrevista realizada dentro del museo del Salón de la Fama. Zapata aprovechó para explicar su presencia en el lugar y agradeció humildemente los reconocimientos y el cariño de los fanáticos. “Estoy muy feliz, no imaginé que esto sería así. Aquí están los verdaderos fanáticos del boxeo, todos me piden autógrafos y quieren que le regale la camiseta que tengo puesta, ojalá pudiera quedar bien con todos pero son muchos”, dijo Zapata.

En medio de la ceremonia de inauguración del Salón de la Fama, Hilario Zapata fue presentado en la tarima y ahí habló para todos presentes. “Mi nombre es Hilario Zapata y soy de Panamá, estoy contento de estar aquí ante ustedes con el propósito de que me conozcan porque para mi sería un orgullo estar el próximo año de vuelta como un miembro del Salón de la Fama”, expresó el tres veces campeón mundial quien tuvo como traductor al árbitro Joe Cortez.

Para el segundo día de la semana de inducciones, Zapata estará nuevamente presente en todas las actividades.
