Brandon Cook will defend his WBA Inter-Continental super welterweight title against Davide Doria over a scheduled 12 rounds at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday, May 14.

A pro since 2011 (16-0, 10 KOs), Cook, 29, won the then-vacant title last June by knocking out Gogi Knezevic in the fourth. Ninth-ranked by the WBA, undefeated “Bad Boy” successfully defended his strap last November by kayoing Rafael Sosa Pintos in the fifth. A favorite son, Cook fights out of Ajax, Ontario.

Born in Italy, but fighting out of Germany, 32-year-old Doria is a five-year ring vet (14-2-1, 4 KOs) who last fought just a few days ago, on April 16, outpointing Giga Nadiradze. However beefy, Doria is feather-fisted, scoring only four knockouts in 14 wins. But he has a good chin, having only been stopped by Ceferino Rodriguez via fifth-round TKO last November. Undefeated for four straight years (including one draw), the Italo-German’s two losses have come in his last six fights, most recently to Stepan Horvath this March 5, the Czech winning the interim WBO European super welterweight title by unanimous decision.
