Boxing feast with four WBA titles

WBA press. June 10. Saturday night was a true boxing feast in the Home Depot Center Arena in Carson, California. Three World Boxing Association title fights took place among the main cards.

The first to fight was the Venezuelan Johan Perez who defeated the Japanese Yoshihiro Kamegai by unanimous decision to win the WBA Intercontinental welterweight title.

Then came the fight for the Interim super welterweight title between the Cuban Erislandy Lara and the Mexican José Alfredo “El perro” Angulo.

Both fighters fought fiercely, and, the Mexican showed his strength and the Antillean his fencing.

Angulo send Lara to the canvas a couple of times, and Lara got the protective count, however the Caribeean managed to recover  to get the best out of his boxing skills and won the title when the Aztecs gave up at minute fifty second of the tenth round.

The evening closed with a fight between the Argentinean Marcos René Maidana and the Mexican Josesito López, who also open fire since the beginning of the fight.

Each of them imposed his style in a true war. Maidana overcame a bad moment and cornered Josesito on the ropes to the point that referee Lou Moret had to step in and call the knockout at one minute 18 seconds of the sixth round.

The fourth world title fight was held by the Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa and the Colombian Darley Pérez, at the Bell Centre of Montreal, Canada.

The fight went the distance and the judges scored the actions in favor of Gamboa 116-111, 116-111, 115-112, to keep the lightweight Interim belt.
