WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (34-2, 14KOs) from a decent layoff to win an easy twelve round unanimous decision over Giovanni Lorenzo (29-3, 21KOs). Sturm had been away from the ring since July 2009 after waging a legal war with Universum to become a free agent. The scores were 117-111, 117-111 and 118-111.

Lorenzo came out with shots that were digging to the body of Strum and threw jabs up the middle. Sturm did little other than holding up his guard. Sturm got his signature jab going in the second round. Better work by Sturm in the third. He was landing hard shots with both hands in spurts and holding up his guard to avoid counters. Sturm continued to pump his jab in the fourth and fifth rounds, sending Lorenzo back with the shots.

Sturm took over the entire fight by the sixth round. He was hitting Lorenzo often and seemed to be in full control as he worked off the hard jab. Rounds seven and eight were nothing more than points in the bank for Sturm. Lorenzo could not get off with his punches and allowed Sturm to dictate the action. Lorenzo tried to pick up the pace in the ninth, but not enough to win it or change the way the fight was playing out. Lorenzo went back to the backfoot in the tenth, allowing Sturm to regain full control.

Lorenzo tried to take the fight back in the eleventh.

Sturm continued to work his jab and kept a high guard to hold him off. Lorenzo went back to his mindset of a late rally in the twelfth. Sturm took some of the round off, but still managed to do the better work and kept Lorenzo from doing any serious damage.
