Union Boxing Promotions ganó la subasta realizada en la AMB.
La pelea estaría pautada para el mes de abril, y significaría la cuarta defensa del campeón del peso welter. Golden Boy Promotions había ofertado para realizarla en Nueva York, Palermo o Milán.
Prensa AMB, 26 de Enero.- El campeón welter de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, el ucraniano Vycheslav Senchenko, y el retador Paul Malignaggi, se enfrentarán en la ciudad de Donestk, Ucrania, durante el próximo mes de abril, en lo que será la cuarta defensa del título en poder del europeo.
El acto fue dirigido por Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, vicepresidente de la AMB, y Presidente del Comité de Campeonatos, y supervisada por el vicepresidente de Campeonatos, Aurelio Fiengo.
Los promotores de Senchenko ganaron la subasta después que ofrecieron $ 1.000.010 para organizar la pelea, y anunciaron que deberá disputarse los días 27, 28 o 29 de abril en Donestk.
Por su parte, Golden Boy Promotions, manejadores de Malignaggi, ofrecieron $250.000 para montar la pega en Nueva York, Milán o Palermo el 21 de abril.
“La pelea se realizará entre ambos peleadores, debido a que el campeón interino, el francés Ismael El Massoudi, tiene problemas legales por ahora, por lo que no está disponible para combatir” explicó Mendoza.
Dada la situación, se escogió al siguiente retador disponible que es el “Magic Man” Malignaggi.
Senchenko tiene 32 peleas ganadas, 21 de ellas por KO, y no conoce la derrota. Por su parte, Malignaggi

WBA Press, January 26.- The Ukrainian Vycheslav Senchenko, WBA Welterweight World Champion, will make his fourth title defense against the challenger Paul Malignaggi, in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine in April.
The Purse Bid was directed by Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, WBA Vice-president, and supervised by Aurelio Fiengo WBA Championships Vice-chairman.
Senchenko promoters won the bidding when offered $ 1.000.010 to promote the fight and announced that the fight will take place on April 27, 28 o 29 in Donetsk.
On the other hand, Golden Boy Promotions, representing Malignaggi, offered $250.000 to promote the fight in New York, Milan or Palermo on April 21.
“These two fighters will fight because the Interim Champion, Ismael El Massoudi, is facing some legal problems and will not be available to fight” said Mendoza.
In light of this situation the opportunity landed on the next available rated contender “Magic Man” Malignaggi.
Senchenko is undefeated and has a record of 32 wins, with 21 KO. While, Malignaggi has a record of 30 wins, 4 lose with 6 KO’s.
